I consider our first counselling psychotherapy appointment to be an assessment of sorts - both for you and for me. It is during this initial session that we can both get a sense of what we are working towards, and whether we feel we 'click' enough to work well together. Not all counsellors are right for everyone - personality plays a huge factor in whether counselling psychotherapy is effective or not. With this in mind, understand that an initial session with me puts you under no obligation to continue working with me at all. I feel that this session is so that you can find out if we gel, and whether my counselling style feels right for you.
There is no need to worry about your privacy. It is of paramount importance to me. All information given and everything said to me within our counselling psychotherapy session is always completely confidential. I will only ever disclose information about clients in cases of severe legal or medical emergencies.* Please refer to the BACP ethical code for further information.
A counselling psychotherapy appointment with me costs £50 for 50 minutes.
Fees are sometimes negotiable dependant on circumstances. Please do enquire about concessionary rates, I welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you in person.
Payments are by cash, cheque, paypal or bank transfer. I will, of course, provide you with invoices and receipts, if and when required.
There are many car parks nearby in St Albans town centre. The nearest is either The Maltings car park, or the London Road car park.
This office location has been chosen for its easy accessibility, via both public and private transport, as clients travel in from Hemel Hempstead, Welwyn Garden City, Watford, London, Luton and other surrounding towns and villages.
The location I work from is very private yet easy to find. Due to the age of the building there is no wheelchair access at present.
Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you arrive early, I may not be able to answer the door to you. If you arrive late, part of your appointment time will be lost to you.
Unfortunately, I do have to charge for a cancellation within 48 hours of your counselling psychotherapy appointment, as I will be unable to fill that appointment slot.
Please do ask me about written assessments or reports (for lawyers, insurance companies etc)
I am not registered for private health insurance.
*(apart from within supervision, to a qualified supervisor, as do all BACP registered therapists, as part of our commitment to the BACP ethical framework - and even then we share no identifying information.
